Canva

Library designs are built in Canva with the Library's brand kit, so they carry the real brand fonts and colors. Ask Marketing & Communications to add you to the Library's Canva team and brand kit.

The brand kit should hold

  • Colors, grouped as in the guide: Background (Dark Forest , Night Sky , Dark Gray , White), Grounding (Sand , Deep Orange , Bright Forest , Gray Sky ), Accent (Sunset Pink , Sunset Orange , Sunset Yellow , Spring Green ).
  • Fonts: Dharma Gothic E (headings, set to uppercase), ITC Clearface (subheadings and body), Frutiger Next (small text and captions). Teddy Regular only for approved uses.
  • Logos and marks: the SVG files from Logos and marks.
  • Photos: real photographs of the Library and the Badlands. No renderings.

Brand voice for Canva's AI writing

Paste into the brand kit's Brand voice field:

Friendly, plainspoken and specific, like a park ranger excited to share what they know. Lead with story and place, not the institution. Short sentences, active voice, concrete detail; no "world-class" or "transformative." Say "participants" (not visitors), "Trustees," "Benefactors," "T.R." (never "Teddy"), "buttes" (not mesas). Nonpartisan. Never invent or paraphrase a Theodore Roosevelt quote.

Canva's AI does not verify history. Every historical claim and quote still goes through the accuracy check before publishing.

Templates

Start from the Library's templates rather than a blank page. For decks, use the master presentation template. Photos with text over them use a Night Sky gradient behind the text.

With Claude and the Canva connector

If Claude has the Canva connector, ask it to build or revise designs directly: "Make an Instagram post for ... in Canva." The design-brief skill picks the template, applies the spec and leaves the design for you to review. Then ask "Review this design" to run the design review.

Before you export

Run through Visual identity: one background color, two color families, contrast on every piece of text, logo clear space, Dharma in caps, no hyphenation.
